David and Marian Hawkins August 2016, EnglandGood rustic accommodation in lovely, well kept grounds with good size swimming pool. 10 minutes drive to Arles Centre and 30 minutes drive to sea. Hosts were very friendly and helpful with excellent knowledge of the area, restaurants and vineyards. Gite was well equipped and had a bbq on the balcony. A very quiet and peaceful location and we enjoyed the company of a very pretty little grey cat, very sociable who we named Misty Gris! Altogether a very enjoyable stay.
Guy RATCLIFFE - Août 2015 - Van Gogh - Billingshurst, AngleterreA perfect place to stay!
Date of stay: August 2015
We stayed August 2015 with my wife and two daughters (9 and 12 years old). We stayed in the Van Gogh.

The Domaine has beautiful large grounds, with accomodations which are very private. The Van Gogh was furnished very traditionally, yet has all the facilities that make a stay easy. The best part of the Van Gogh was the outdoor terrace and bbq. The pool is very large and never crowded. Great place to explore Arles and area from.

KOYFMAN - juillet 2015 - GAUGUIN, ISRAELExcellent place! Perfect for families. Nice pool and air conditioning at appartament-that is important! Very good location to explore the camargue area and arles city
MARINONI - septembre 2014 - Cézanne, USAA great location. It is close to all the most important sites in Provence. This is a completely renovated former farm "mas". It has a large yard and swimming pool. We were four adults and two small children. It is great for small children. All the rooms are unusually large and comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped and the staff was very helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Eva H. - août 2014 - Réattu, AllemagneWe as a young couple found this place very beautiful: flat nicely decorated in warm Provence coulours, wonderful big garden you acess directly from the terace of the flat with space enough for activities as ping-pong or ball sports, big and clean swimming pool in an seperate area of the garden, terace of the flat is equipped with table, chairs to enjoy dinner outsides and a barbecue. In the two room flat we found plenty of information about activities, restaurants etc., furthermore staff and owners were willing to give us even more good advices, it was very nice to chat with them.
In the flat you find everything for a comfortable stay: cleaning utensils and a kitchen equipped with everything you need (toaster, coffee machine, washing mashine, dishwasher etc.). We didn't have a oven, but there was a microwave with grill function (we didn't use it).
Calm location not far by car to city of Arles with splendid market.

Glover - août 2014 - Gauguin - Beckenham, Grande BretagneThis was a great place to take our family. Plenty of impressive local sights. Swimming pool was fantastic, very clean and we mainly had it to ourselves. The gardens were beautifully kept with a number of activities for the kids - sand pit, climbing frame, table tennis, football pitch. The owners were very friendly and welcoming. The apartment was clean and functional. Highly recommended.

Casper 3 o Margit.

Meca Corsetti - Décembre 2013 Cézanne - Rio, Brésil3 couples,early/mid sixties, very pleasant stay at the Cézanne 24/12/13-01/01/14. Everything we hoped for:3 LARGE AND COMFORTABLE ROOMS WITH ENSUITE BATHROOMS ( all appliances functionning perfectly). VERY GOOD HEATING on bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, living room. The mezzanine has 3 big single beds separate WC downstairs. Fully equipped kitchen. WI-FI works fine, needs to be reset daily.VERY CONVENIENTLY LOCATED,5km from Arles, easy access on the N6113 , leading to all sites. GREAT PERSONAL ATTENTION by DENISE and FABIENNE( can´t thank you enough for the great wine welcoming us on the 24th, your attention with restaurant tips and reservations and with following up on the possible left behind cel phone - fortunately found on our friends suitcase). We were not able to meet Mr. and Mrs. Saltiel, away on holidays but they called regularly to check if all was well.Just one hilarious set back: we were not able to lock the door, since you need to push the handle up to then turn the key. 6 adults tried every possible way to lock it with no success. We slept with open doors for 2 nights, with absolutely no concern over security. La Tourette is a great property, very well taken care of and managed. I believe it would be sensational on summer, what with the big pool and adjoining barbecue, spacious park and trees. Couples with young kids will find it a heaven . We were very happy with the Van Gough apartment situated inside an old stone farmhouse. The rooms were furnished with an interesting mix of antiques and were very comfortable. We enjoyed having breakfast outside on the deck surrounded by beautiful trees and landscaping.
The kitchen, while small, was well equipped for preparing simple meals with the quality ingredients readily available in the area.
The owners were absent during our stay but their English speaking manager was very helpful with information on restaurants, maps grocery stores etc.
The location was excellent, central to many areas and of course just a few minutes from arles. It was easy to explore the Camargue, Chauteauneuf-du-Pape, Pont du Gard and avignon.
We all felt the apartment was charming and represented a great value

In many ways, the work of a critic is easy. They risk very little yet enjoy a position over those who offer up their work and their selves to our judgment. Critics seem to thrive on negative criticism, which is fun to write and to read. But there are times when a critic truly risks something, and that is in the discovery and defense of the new. On Holiday, I experienced something new, an extraordinary Nivana for my family to have their annual vacation. This place was called Domaine de la Tourette near the lovely historic town of arles. To say this place challenged my preconceptions is a gross understatement. It is labour of love and is incredibly beautiful with a very natural feel. The setting, gardens and the accommodation are all idyllic. I loved the garden best as it had beautiful lovely big sycamore type trees with Mediterranean flora all around to compliment. The accommodation we stayed in was called Cezanne which is also tastefully decorated and appointed. All the main bedrooms had on-suites and if the nights were too hot we could just turn on the supplied efficient air conditioning. All mod cons are supplied including wifi. My only cristism was that the TV had just French channeling, but in some ways this is a blessing. At the far end of the Garden is more than adequate size swimming pool which we all enjoyed thoroughly. The nearest beach is a 30 minute drive away at Saint Marie de la Mer. The drive here was very straight forward and enjoyable. Saint Marie de la Mer has great beaches and sea plus the town is charming to end the day and have an evening meal out as treat.

We travel to similar facilities every summer and this is the best ever. The apartments are very comfortable with all rooms being air-conditioned. Service is great and any malfunctions (ex a leaking air conditioning unit) were sorted within the day. The outdoor facilities are even better - large turf areas, loads of things to do with children, and a very nice pool area. A must visit.

Paola - Août 2013, ItalyManguin
Some minors inconvenience were quickly resolved.
Maximum collaboration to organize our bike rental and to solve a problem with the aTM.
Comfortable cottage and mosquitoes under control.
Nice pool and park with possibility of bbq by the pool.
Liked best: proximity to points of interest.
Liked beast: only one wash basin for those who don't use the diswasher; small oven.

Gratzer - juillet 2013 - London, Great BritainGauguin
My wife and I enjoyed our stay enormously. The Domaine de la Tourette is an exceptionally beautiful place. The rooms are spacious, well-furnished and comfortable, with all facilities one might need. The geniality of our hosts, who, together with their charming secretary, patiently helped with WiFi problems, and gave good advice on restaurants and other matters. M. Saltiel was even kind enough to fetch us from arles after we returned our hire car, and to convey us to the railway station early the following morning for our departure. We could not have wished for better treatment.

Barbara - juin 2013 - San Francisco, USAVan Gogh
My husband and I spent a dream week at the Saltiel chateau, situated on a very large, secluded garden-like property just outside of arles. The apartment rooms have all the charm and comfort we envisioned for Provence, as well as smart new baths, fully equipped kitchen and washer/dryer facilities. Everything was immaculate. Service, from reservations to extra on-site requests, was prompt, cheerful, and thorough. Unseasonably cold weather meant just one use of their lovely, privately-situated pool.
The owners are energetic, delightful people, very knowledgeable of the history of the region and helpful with local suggestions. Beatrice got us into a tour of the Rodin exhibit at an arles art gallery. She also arranged a private afternoon cooking class with a local chef, and we ate our delicious results "at home" for dinner!
We had a rental car and traveled the area, which offers way too much to do in one week! We visited Roman antiquities including Pont du Gard, the colosseum and underground in arles, hiked through the ancient castle ruins at Le Baux, drove through the Camargue salt flats with its flamingoes and white wild horses, and sauntered through arles and Nimes town markets filled with linens, foods, pottery, antiques - for starters!
We fixed breakfasts "at home," - including great local pan chocolat (croissants). On our last night we had dinner in arles at Cafe Caro, outdoors - across the plaza from Van Gogh's gold cafe - very fresh, local, on-site-prepared dishes- tender lamb, sweetbreads (new to us!)- excellent food- best in arles!
We had a magnificent time at the Saltiels' gracious chateau! We'd love to return another year!!

Paul - juin 2013 - OlympiaVan Gogh
The Saltiel family provided us with a wealth of helpful information on what and where to visit in the area- Roman ruins: aquaduct, colosseum, forum, circus maximus, underground tour, museum, local market days, a superb traditional French restaurant in the old Forum which uses only the freshest of produce and still uses the underground Roman ruins for their wine cellar! We rented a car for easy day trips to Les Beau, Avignon, Pont du Gare, and the Camargue. The stone home is centuries old but with completely modernized utilities and beautifully decorated in authentic provencale antiques. Friendly hospitality and a quiet rural setting mark this as a unique vacation.

A ne pas manquer // This unique domain suit your needs of nature, comfort and hospitality. Wonderful location for exploring Provence and Camargue. I liked the authentic apartments, air bowl from the Petit Rhone, this unique scent of Roman Provence. Do not miss

David - juin 2013 - Melbourne, AustraliaRéattu
The gite is one of four which appear to have been built in an old, long, barn typical of the area.
The building is set in extensive gardens, with large area of lawn, huge plane trees and many shrubs. It is very attractive.
The gardens create privacy for each gite. Each gite has a terrace with outside furniture and we ate dinner outside each evening and had no sense there were other people nearby.

There is a large pool with good safety fences.

The gite (Reattu) comprised a double bedroom, large dining and sitting room, kitchen, bathroom and WC. It was plenty large enough for two of us and was fully equipped with all we needed.

The owner and staff spoke good English, which is always a great help.

The location was excellent. It is only 4km out of arles so we avoided the hassle of staying in a downtown hotel in arles with all the associated traffic, parking and security problems.

From the gite we visited not only arles, but also Nimes and the Pont du Gard, Uzes, St Remy, and the Camargue.

My husband and I spent three nights here in the Manguin apartment and found it so enjoyable and relaxing, it was difficult to leave to see the sights. Cheerful Fabienne greeted us with great warmth and was most concerned that we were comfortable and assisted us with all our questions. The place itself is delightfully furnished with everything you could need. There is even a charcoal grill and patio table and chairs on the balcony that overlooks the garden. The pool, hidden by a hedge, is huge and has many lounge chairs. I am sure this has to be the best place to stay - we would love to come again and will recommend it to our friends!

Domaine de La Tourette is an ideal spot for a home base to visit Provence. Arles is minutes away. All the major sights-Nimes, Pont du Gard, Avignon, San Remy, Les Baux, and the Rhone wine country are no more than 40-60 minutes by car. Our one bedroom apartment was very nice: tastefully appointed, a good bed, lots of hot water, a washing machine, and an adequate kitchen for cooking meals. The grounds are lovely. The pleasant girl in reception was most helpful. The owners live on the property-always an added feature. They are very pleasant. Minutes from arles, it is close to both fresh markets and supermarkets.

Dear Mrs Saltiel,

Thank you very much for all your preparation.

We enjoyed our stay in Reattu and appreciated the care and attention you made in decorating and furniture in the accommodation and the style of the gardens.
We would certainly recommend your accommodation to others and when we go to France/Camargue again, we will try to stay in Domaine de la Tourette again.

Yours sincerely

Cathy Marceaux, mars 2005, FranceMadame Saltiel,

Larry Nielsen, March 2010How wonderful to receive your ecard! We remember our little apartment with such pleasant memories. Happy new Year to you both.Peace.

Gunnar and family - Berlin, GermanyDomaine de la Tourette is very well located to easily explore French Provence. A car is required in any case -no public transport. The Domaine is 3 km outside of Fourques, a village where you find two (good) boulangeries and other basic services. Arles is nearby only 10 minutes by car.

The Domaine is a superb place to relax in a vast shady garden which is well looked after and in an excellent shape. Listening to all day-long chirping of cicadas and looking into plane trees already gives you a cosy background for your mediterranean holidays.
Next attraction is the large pool (roughly 14m by 5m) which is also in a very good condition and a superb place to sun-bath or to swim. There were even barbecue facilities next to the pool (which we did not use).

Our appartement (Gaugin) is furnished in Provencale-style with all facilities needed. We especially liked the well equipped kitchen.

The hospitality of the owners was warm and open - we allways felt very well received.

Steve - Atlanta, USAWe had a wonderful stay - the apartment was very clean and ideally situated for day trips throughout Provence. We had a few barbecues with friends who were able to enjoy the pool and dinner. The kids loved the place - very accommodating to families and way too many things to see in one week. We have stayed in 4 or 5 places in provence in the past and this was by far the most reasonable price for what we got. Highly recommended

Darryl Hobbart, EnglandThe gite is set on a rural property about 8 kilometers from arles. It provides good access to arles, Nimes, the Camargue and surrounding lovely villages such as Remy. There is lovely landscaping and the swimming pool is welcome after a hot day's touring. Mme and Monsieur are very helpful when planning excursions. The bedroom is upstairs and that's a limitation for guests with tired knees. The experience could be enhanced by the updating of some of the crockery but overall the gite worked for us.

Paul Cushman - Olympia, WA, USAWe greatly appreciate staying in an authentic private Provencal accommodation with excellent service from the Saltiel family. They helped us locate many sites to visit within easy day access such as Le Beau, St. Remy, Pont du Gare, Avignon, the Camargue and of course arles within a few minutes drive.
Beatrice Saltiel is especially knowledgeable in the history of the area from the Romans forward. The tranquility of their countryside home, pool and gardens was very appealing.

Dennis Baird - Moscow, Idaho, USAComfort and convenience near arles
This is a wonderful place to stay. The apartments are large, well furnished, and well maintained, and the owners, who both speak English well, are helpful and generous. Tourette is handy to both arles and Nimes, and two bakeries are just a mile or so away for breakfast purchases. There is a large pool and the windows all have screens. Kitchens are large and well equipped, and there is a nice grill at each apartment. Very fast WiFi service is included and place is very quiet at night. The Camargue and ocean beaches are very close. Excellent vale here and great comfort.

Grace Drown, USADecember 31st 2011.
Dear Beatrice and Philippe,
Thank you so much for letting us stay in your wonderful house this past week. We have had a great time taking short trips to see the sites in the area. The Camargue, Les Baux de Provence and Le Pont du Gard are some of our favorites. The house was very comdfortable and we enjoyed walking along the river. Thanks too for helping us over the phone to find our way here.
Once again, thank you for your hospitality.
Sincerely, Grace Drown.

Steven and Paula Koppel, October 2003Dear Friends and Family,

"We are now finishing a wonderful two-week stay in a farmhouse located in a small village just outside of Arles. Provence was one of the two locations where we had planned longer stays (Tuscany was the other), and this has turned out to be agreat decision. similar to what we found in Tuscany, Provence has a tremendous amount to offer. the scenery includes beautiful mountains and valleys filled with vineyards and olive groves, the Camargue nature reserve and ts abundant wildlife (including thousands of pink flamingoes), and picturesque hilltop villages. this setting has been a rich inspiration to many artists, and here we've been able to see the studios, homes and subjects of Matisse, Renoir, Cezanne and Van Gogh. The whole area is deep in Roman history, and has some of the best-preserved ruins anywhere in the world. The small villages of Provence are wonderful to explore, and each one seems to have its own unique story and character. Provencal food and wine are fantastic, and we've enjoyed some delicious meals here. For all these reasons, we know that we'll leave Provence on saturday with some very special memories".
